J Joseph Polhill's Studio
J Joseph Polhill teaches a variety of lesson types to a variety of students. Currently, he has taught students ages 8-52, but there is no upper limit on learning to sing! When it comes to individual lessons, his teaching style focuses on the goals of the students, their goals, and their unique voice, rather than molding all students into the same image. Individual students will learn a variety of repertoire, based on a mix of student interests and instructor recommendations, all selected appropriately for the student's training level. All individual students will get the opportunity (but not requirement) to perform in studio recitals. Group lessons/classes offer a different take, sometimes functioning as classes to teach students about basic music concepts, sometimes functioning as small ensembles, whether that takes the form of a children's choir or a madrigal group for more advanced students. Students (or their parents/guardians) will work with J Joseph to come up with a schedule for their lessons.

Group 60 Minute Lessons (Varies)
30 minute lessons are the best option for beginners or anyone who needs to fit lessons into a busy schedule. The student will have opportunities to perform, learn about their voice, and gain new skills in singing and performing.
60 minute lessons follow the same fundamental curriculum as 30 minute lessons, but allow the student more time to work on advanced techniques, go over literature, and discuss questions with J Joseph. This is the perfect selection for the more advanced singer looking to refine their craft.
Unlike individual lessons, group lessons are taught with a specific curriculum and schedule. For these lessons to run, at least three people must sign up. Group lessons typically cover the basics of reading music, fundamentals of singing (this one ends with a mini choir concert!), special topics in music history (based on class interest), or for more advanced groups, madrigal singing.
